Warung Outpost at Disney’s Animal Kingdom has debuted both a new cupcake and drink this week! Unfortunately the cupcake has sold out and is not believed to be returning, however, I thought I would give the new drink a try. While the new cupcake was Kevin themed in honor of her recent arrival at the park, the drink is called the “Himalayan Explorer” and doesn’t exactly have any identifiable theming (although the colors to resemble Kevin’s too).

The drink was made up of two different kinds of frozen slush margarita flavors, Strawberry and Mango, and toped with a generous amount of Blue Curacao.

As you can see, the drink comes in layers. Because the Blue Curacao is the only non-frozen component to the drink, it gets distributed throughout pretty quickly after it is poured over the top.

The drink was rather strong (reminder this is an alcoholic beverage, however, I was told it can be made without) and after finishing it, I noticed I hadn’t tasted any strawberry flavor at all. It was almost entirely mango in taste. While it was good, I would have loved to try something that tasted more like a mix of the two.

While sipping on the drink and making my way around the park, I did notice a few actual pieces of mango being sucked through my straw.

Overall the drink was flavorful,  light, and refeshing. It certianly gave me a buzz that might have actually convinced me to enjoy Rivers of Light. It’s a neat option to celebrate Kevin’s arrival, however the flavor was the same throughout and i was pretty dissapointed by that. Unless you’re looking specifically for a limited time offering, i would choose another option such as the Yak Attack from the Yak and Yetti Quality Beverages, or the infamous Jungle Juice from Dawa Bar.
