These new MagicBand options will be available for pre-arrival purchase at a special price of $14.99 off retail cost through the My Disney Experience website. We decided to head on there and see how the whole new Build-a-Band process worked on the day of its big debut:
The whole process is fairly straightforward, if not for some constant glitching. You log on to your Disney account, head to My Disney Experience, and select “My MagicBands and Cards” from the menu, which redirects to a homepage listing all your existing MagicBands.
Yes, I’m Russell.
From there, you’re prompted to choose a MagicBand.
Be patient with the site as many are reporting numerous glitches. Right from the get-go, it wasn’t showing any results, despite no filters being selected yet.
A few refreshes gave me the page in its fully functional form, with a gallery of bands to browse through. Filters are available by Theme, Color, and Price (complimentary solid-color bands vs. discounted themed bands.)
The filters were somewhat glitchy too, but here’s a look at how they’re categorized by Theme: Mickey and Friends, Disney Princesses, Frozen, Disney Villains, Marvel, Star Wars, Disney Pixar, Walt Disney Pictures, and Disney Parks.
When you click or hover over an existing band design, it gives you the special pre-order price.
Again, be wary of glitches and pack your patience as you choose your bands. I was never able to complete the transaction, but many so far have had success. You will then be prompted to personalize your band with a specific name as is usual for MagicBand orders.
What upgraded MagicBand will you be choosing? At $10.00 a band, it might make it hard to say no to that Spaceship Earth band I’ve always wanted.
