Next up on our tour of eats and treats celebrating “The Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom is the Simba Ice Cream Sandwich!

Simba Ice Cream Sandwich – Available at Tamu Tamu

The Simba Ice Cream Sandwich includes two chocolate chip cookies, vanilla ice cream, and a decorative chocolate tail, with an image of Simba in the middle surrounded by chocolate icing “fur”. (If this were my house, the sandwich would inevitably get actual cat fur on it, but I digress…) You can get the sandwich for $6.99 at Tamu Tamu.

I mean, just look at that tail. It’s made out of fondant and topped with flecks of chocolate frosting.

I don’t know if we’ve just come to expect very little of Walt Disney World sugar prints, but this one of Simba doesn’t look all that bad. Much better than the Baby Gorilla Cupcake, if you ask me.

Unfortunately, the sandwich melted quickly in the Florida heat, as is expected. The cookie was also slightly burnt, but that wasn’t a huge detriment. The main downside to this is that it’s really sugary, and sits heavy in the stomach, making it a less-than-ideal snack for a hot day. You’re better off getting something more refreshing, like the Simba Sunset Dole Whip or King’s Cooler at this same location.

However, if you’re a huge lion/Lion King fan, this ice cream sandwich is very nicely themed. Definitely get it, but know what you’re getting yourself into.
