Disney on Broadway 25th Anniversary Concert Being Held at the 2019 D23 Expo, New VR Experience to Debut

Disney on Broadway is returning to D23 Expo next month for its 25th anniversary. To celebrate this momentous occasion, some of Broadway’s biggest stars will be presenting an exclusive concert during the expo. Not only that, but fans will be able to transport themselves directly to some of Disney’s greatest Broadway shows through a new virtual reality experience.

The broadway celebration kicks off on Saturday, August 24, at 3:30pm in Hall D23 during the Expo. The performances will be hosted by Tony Award®-nominee Gavin Lee (Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast). This 75-minute concert will feature Heidi Blickenstaff (Freaky Friday, The Little Mermaid), Ashley Brown (Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, On The Record), Kissy Simmons (The Lion King), Josh Strickland (Tarzan) and Alton Fitzgerald White (The Lion King). Accompanying these talented stars will be a six-piece band, led by Jim Abbott. The performance will feature hit songs from Disney on Broadway classics, like Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aida, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, The Little Mermaid, Newsies, Aladdin, Freaky Friday and Frozen. Disney on Broadway Celebrates 25 years during D23 Expo

In addition to this star-studded concert, expo attendees will have the opportunity to visit center stage of popular Disney on Broadway shows like Aladdin, Frozen, and The Lion King by visiting the VR theatre on the D23 Expo floor. While transported to these various shows, guests will be able to see performances from Broadway’s Caissie Levy (Elsa), Major Attaway (Genie), Telly Leung (Aladdin) and Tshidi Manye (Rafiki). Not only will the VR theatre bring you right to the show, but it will also offer exclusive views of perforances that cannot be seen from regular theater seating.

Single-day tickets for Friday and Sunday of D23 Expo 2019 are available for $89 for one-day adult admission and $69 for children 3–9. Gold Members of D23: The Official Disney Fan Club can purchase tickets for $77 for a one-day adult admission and $59 for children 3–9. Single-day Saturday tickets and three-day passes are sold out.
