Welcome Foolish Mortals to the Disney Gallery at Disneyland Park. Today, the gallery is presenting a new exhibit filled with spooks, creepies, and crawlies. The “Happy Haunts Materialize – The Art of Haunted Mansion” exhibit is open in celebration of the attractions 50th anniversary this August 9.
“Happy Haunts Materialize – The Art of Haunted Mansion” at Disney Gallery
Upon walking into Disney Gallery, guests are greeted with a sign detailing the history of the ghoulish attraction that debuted almost 50 years ago. The attraction went through several design concepts, such as a walk-through attraction, before it evolved into the ride we love today.
The “Happy Haunts Materialize – The Art of Haunted Mansion” exhibit showcases concept art of the various ghosts who reside in the Mansion in New Orleans Square. Here is some of the concept art on display:
Aside from the clay models, there is also concept art displayed on the walls.
Does this chilling corridor look familiar?
With Haunted Mansion celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, we can expect that this is just the beginning of the happy haunts you’ll find at Disneyland Park. An after-hours event, “The Haunted Mansion: Celebration 50 Years of Retirement Unliving,” will be taking place in August and it’s sure to be filled with frightful fun. Don’t forget to purchase your ticket if you’d like to attend this swinging wake.
Did anyone else notice the typo in the haunted mansion 50th anniversary celebration sign?!
Any word on how long this will remain open? I’d love to see it but my next trip isn’t until December. Thanks!
