It’s baaaack…

That’s right, the return of the fan-favorite Pineapple “Dole Whip” Donut has finally come. The donut is available at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe for $6. Yes, you read that right. So, what makes this fancy fried ring of dough warrant the hefty price tag? Read on to find out.

We’ve basically reviewed the infamous donut every time it’s made it on property, starting with its debut, and its initial return.

The main difference is that these used to be available solely at the Donut & Coffee cart just adjacent to Sleeping Beauty’s Castle on Main Street, U.S.A., which has now gone the way of the dinosaur. Now it sits in the bakery case at Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe.

Part of what makes the donut so special is that it’s made in small batches. They make roughly 30 donuts each morning and an additional 30 each evening around 5:00 PM, which makes it feel really special when you get your hands on one!

While these donuts are enjoyable, they are very sweet. That being said, you should probably share this with a friend, because it’s a lot to handle on your own, especially first thing in the morning.

The top of the donut has a layer of sugary glazed icing with a giant swirly mound of marshmallow fluff (made to look like toasted meringue, or the swirl of a Dole Whip.) If you don’t like the taste of marshmallows, you might want to hold out on this one, because there’s a whole mound of it.

The middle of the donut is filled with pineapple filling, but again, since these are handcrafted, there seems to be some  inconsistency from donut to donut. Some report having too much pineapple marmalade oozing from their donuts, while other donuts barely have any, and as result, taste rather dry.

If you’re into marshmallows and pineapple, or just want to see what all the fuss is about regarding one of Disneyland’s most famous donuts, definitely stop by Jolly Holiday and give this a try.
