Things never stop moving forward in the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy, so we are here at Magic Kingdom again for another park walk and photo report! Let’s get started!
One of my first stops in the Magic Kingdom is always walking through the Emporium to see what’s new. Usually in the flood of Guests coming into the park, the Emporium is very busy, but this morning, it was oddly calm and peaceful. You don’t often get to see this shop this quiet and it was nice.
Checking in on the TRON construction, and its almost like they’re building another Magic Kingdom Mountain with the pile of dirt that continues to grow by the Tomorrowland Speedway track. Once you get past the dirt, you can still get a pretty brief view of it from the PeopleMover, and the queue of the Barnstormer is always a good place to check in on it as well.
After checking in on TRON, I stopped in Big Top Souvenirs and found another addition to the sleeping Dream Friends plush collection, Dumbo! All that flying would definitely tire anyone out, so shhhhh, don’t wake the precious baby.
Over at the Cinderella Castle pathway widening project, they were working on more of the brickwork on the new wall. The yardstick they have they were using to line up the scoring and the lines on the new “bricks”. You can see all of the horizontal lines in place in the pillar to the right on the photo above, they were working on carving out the vertical lines.
The pillars of the new pathway are also getting worked on. I’m hoping this means that we’ll see the return of just some fencing versus a solid wall the whole way down, it makes it seem so much more open.
In Sir Mickey’s, the construction walls around the princess Minnie statue in the corner have come down, revealing a new photo studio! The addition here is likely a replacement for the studio that used to be in Castle Couture, but since Castle Couture has been transformed into an extension of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, it’s nice that this option is still available for all Guests.
And surprise, Haunted Mansion is still missing a good portion of the awnings from the queue. I don’t think I will be subjecting myself to this ride until I can leisurely wait in the shade, which is a shame since it’s my favorite Magic Kingdom attraction, so I’d prefer if the rest of the awnings returned as soon as possible.
One thing I noticed on my park walk today, is that most of the quick service restaurants did not have their water stations set up today, Columbia Harbor House was the only one. I don’t know why the change is happening that these are disappearing, but every single station has a sign similar to this one, “Please use provided cups only”, and it never fails that every single time I go to get a cup of water from one of these, I’m waiting behind a Guest who is filling up their own personal water bottle. It seems to be a losing battle, so if this is why we can’t have nice things and we’re all going to have to return to waiting through a quick service restaurant queue to ask for a cup of water, I’m disappointed. Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe has some nice stations specifically made for filling your personal water bottles, and water fountains are always available for this purpose as well, so if you come across one of these water station in a quick service restaurant, please use the provided cups.
That’s all for my walk around Magic Kingdom today! Keep checking WDWNT for all the latest updates!
Any info on how much the photos cost at Sir Mickey’s?
I’m sorry, but the water fountains are horrible at Disney. The water is always hot and has a funny taste. They should just install more bottle friendly stations around the park or refillable soda machines where you can get water like at the Electric Umbrella in EPCOT.
