Construction has been going full swing at Hollywood Studios lately, preparing for the brand new entrance, security checkpoint and Skyliner Station to all be ready by time Galaxy’s Edge opens up later this year. We’ve already seen phase one of this completed back in May, and we’ve been continuing to monitor all of the construction happening here daily.

Today, we got a closer look at the security checkpoint construction and how quickly this has been moving along.

Making our way into Hollywood Studios today, we can see work continuing on behind the scrim barrier that’s been set up. It’s clear to see just from this point of view that this half of the security checkpoint is steadily moving right along.

We took a peek over the scrim through to get a better view of what exactly was being hidden from guest’s view.

Contractors are hard at work to get this completed as soon as they can so there can be more of an open flow for guests to make their way into the park.

The pavement and new topiary sections are currently being installed while work continues on the new security checkpoint.

The old ticket counters are still out of commission for the moment as construction continues out front.

The bag check is set up closer by the entrance, keeping guests shaded from Florida’s intense summer heat. Not all of it is being used with current crowd levels at the park, but the space is ready for the large amount of guests that will be coming for Galaxy’s Edge.

While work continues at a steady pace, we hope to see the completion of this by August 29th. We’ve got just a little over a month to hopefully see it finished by then, Keep checking back in with WDWNT to catch all the latest construction updates, as we look forward to having Hollywood Studios having a more streamlined entrance.

  1. So are they finally going to move to the X-ray bag scanners like Universal has? Because omg it is so much quicker to go thru a metal detector while your bag is going on a belt to be screened. I hate having to unzip every pocket in my travel purse so they can rifle thru it.
