Every year, as this website grows older, we reflect upon the accomplishments, impact, and incredible growth of WDWNT. It has now been 12 years since WDW News Today launched on July 8th, 2007. What was founded on the website you see before you and built on the back of daily news and information about Walt Disney World is now a vibrant collection of blog posts, videos, podcasts, original programming, & more. I can’t believe it was 12 years ago that this all began as pretty much the ugliest, most unreadable website you have probably ever seen, and somehow today is read by millions of people every week. Year after year, month after month, our audience is growing, and we’ve even raised over $50,000 for various charities (Toys for Tots, Ryman Arts, and Give Kids the World), which I consider our greatest accomplishment.
Today, we will continue our annual tradition of presenting a special anniversary program at WDWNTunes.com (broadcasting live in both video and audio-only formats), but this year we are kicking it up a notch by going live for 12 hours. The show begins at 12PM ET and will last until 12AM ET. During this show, we will be making several announcements about the future of WDWNT. We’ll also be interacting with you live through our chat-room and phone lines, taking any questions you may have about the Disney Parks, the Walt Disney Company, or about what we do at WDWNT. We also have a stacked schedule of segments and game shows planned for you, as you can see below:
- 12PM – Show Kick-Off
- 2PM – Disney Don’t Forget the Lyrics
- 5PM – Disney Parks Pursuit
- 6PM – WDWNT: The Dream Sequence Game Show
- 7PM – The Top 10 – Current Walt Disney World Attractions
- 9PM – Back to the Future LIVE! – Matterhorn Bobsleds 60th Anniversary at Disneyland (and Almost Epcot)
- 11PM – WDWNT: The Match Game
You can pre-register to play any of the above game shows here.
On a personal note, the 12 year journey of this website continues to be the greatest experience of my life. I’d like to thank the incredible staff, past and present, that have worked tirelessly to get us where we are today and the loyal readers & listeners who are to thank for our great success. I am very proud of what we have accomplished in this time and amazed at where it has taken me today, moving me across the country to my home just minutes away from Walt Disney World. From the BREAKING “clickbait” stories, to the maintenance reports, to WDW News Tonight, I have loved every minute of it and wouldn’t trade it for anything, even with the bad. Always informational, sometimes offensive, and with a style all its own, WDWNT is clearly something special that I’m thankful to have in my life. I’m looking forward to many more years of living up to our taglines from today and yesterday, continuing to be “the worldwide leader in Disney Parks news” and “bridging the gaps between you and the world.” As a great song once said, “We’ve just begun to dream!”
