We’re back at it again at Magic Kingdom! We’re here for another walk around the Most Magical Place on Earth, lets get started and check in on what’s new!
I’m getting used to this view of the Tomorrowland bridge without the sign. It’s a nice, unobstructed view of Cinderella Castle from the PeopleMover. But honestly, I kind of wish they’d left the old sign a little longer if it was going to take this long for the new one to be installed.
The Astro Orbiter remains closed for maintenance issues. As of right now, it’s set to reopen on August 15th. Fingers crossed this works out and we’re not heading towards another Primeval Whirl situation.
Also on the PeopleMover, I did my usual check-in on TRON Lightcycle Run construction. There was some active work being done to possibly clear the massive dirt pile that had been gathering next to Tomorrowland Speedway. This is exciting for me, as it had really been partially obstructing the view of TRON from the PeopleMover, and I haven’t ridden the Tomorrowland Speedway in a while, but I can’t imagine that it was great Show from there either.
I also checked in on the progress from the queue of the Barnstormer. There’s work being done on the area closest to the Barnstormer, and it looks like there is some new structural work being installed, with that wall towards the bottom of the photo. This could be work getting started on the outside portion of the attraction.
In Fantasyland, by Cinderella Castle where the meet and greet queue for the Fairy Godmother and Anastasia and Drizella, you can get a good look at the pathway widening construction progress (and also that lovely wooden box where a lamppost usually goes).
The 50th anniversary of the original Haunted Mansion in Disneyland took place on Thursday, and we saw a lot of really cool Haunted Mansion merchandise come out to socialize. In Memento Mori, I found this Hatbox Ghost Loungefly bag. While we’ve never been graced with his ghostly presence in Magic Kingdom’s version of the attraction, he’s one of the most celebrated parts of the classic attraction, and this is a really cool piece of merch for any Haunted Mansion fan.
There are a couple other new Haunted Mansion-themed Loungefly bags to add to your collection. We saw the smaller barrel bag arrive at Disneyland a few days ago, but today, a matching larger tote was also available. It’s priced at $80.00 in Memento Mori. A collection of Dooney & Bourke purses was also released, this time with the 50th Anniversary logo.
We’re head over heels for this new Haunted Mansion Dress Shop dress, with the Haunted Mansion wallpaper print on the skirt.
Personally, I love the purple ombre down the skirt, and the iconic wallpaper print is perfect for this dress. This, paired with the Hatbox Ghost bag, would be the perfect outfit to celebrate the iconic attraction on its semicentennial celebration.
At the pathway widening by Cinderella Castle, more active progress was happening today, with more painting of the bricks that line the new wall of the widened pathway.
The rock work on the pillars closest to the Liberty Square bridge is almost complete, it looks like just a few more rocks need to be installed towards the top.
Most of the pathway seems to have been leveled out with dirt, which hopefully means that paving will be coming soon! It’s exciting to see this project getting closer to completion, I really miss this shortcut.
In Frontierland, it was a very busy day at Splash Mountain. This had one of the longest waits I’ve seen in Magic Kingdom in a while, and the FastPass queue was all the way across the Splash Mountain bridge, down by the parade gate.
That’s all for my walk around the Magic Kingdom! Keep checking WDWNT for all the latest updates!
Astro Orbiter and Primeval are not at all the same situation since Primeval isn’t actually closed due to a maintenance issue. It’s closed while an ongoing investigation wraps up on a clone in UK.
3 hour wait for Splash Mountain????!!!! Apparently crowds aren’t down in WDW the way it’s reported in DL!
