Welcome, Foolish Mortals! To a very special edition of this ghostly tour through The Haunted Mansion…

Our library is well-stocked with priceless first editions — only ghost stories, of course — and marble busts of the greatest ghost writers the literary world has ever known. They have all retired here, to the Haunted Mansion. Last night, we celebrated 50 Years of Retirement Unliving in a very special after-hours event.

Just for the 50th anniversary celebration, Disneyland has made more room at the Mansion for a few more happy haunts. In fact, not only are the rooms filled with wall-to-wall creeps, they now also feature live actors throughout the halls and in the infamous Pepper’s ghost ballroom scene. Even Madame Leota’s seance room got a bit of an upgrade with a 50th anniversary logo. Beware of Hitchhiking Ghosts! One of them might even appear in their corruptible, mortal state.

You can check out all of the special additions to the classic attraction by watching our full 50th Anniversary ride POV in the video below:

We find it delightfully unlivable here in this ghostly retreat, even a half-century later.

Thank you for the video. I really liked the human additions! Felt they added to the ride, not distracted. I also appreciated the original “ghost following you home” that’s still at DLR, instead of the digitized version at WDW.
