*NEW* Taco de Puerco: Shredded Pork Belly on a Corn Tortilla with Salsa Verde – $6.50
The pork belly was a bit dry. It could have been richer or more robust to even out the lighter elements of the salsa verde, which felt very creamy, like an avocado sauce.
*NEW* Tostada de Carne: Braised Beef on a Corn Tostada with Mole Oaxaqueño and Chicharrón Dust – $6.95
This was the highlight of the booth this year. The braised beef was seasoned perfectly. The corn tostada gives it a crunchy texture, and the mole sauce was very simple and accessible. If you’re afraid of Mexican food, this is a tasty introduction.
*NEW* Capirotada de Chocolate : Chocolate Bread Pudding served with Chocolate Abuelita Crème Anglaise – $4.75
It’s a bread pudding. It got very gelatinous very quickly, and the chocolate cream also hardened quickly, too. It’s a giant portion for $5. It should be more moist, though.
*NEW* Mexican Sangria: Red Wine, Blackcurrant Liqueur, Citrus Juices, Strawberry Purée, and a hint of Rum – $9.50
It’s… a sangria. The strawberry purée is definitely present, giving it a slight twist on your “rum” of the mill sangria. Oh yeah, the rum they say they added, we did not taste. If you want an everyday sangria, go for it!
*NEW* Clásica Reyes Margarita: 100% Agave Tequila, Ancho Reyes Liqueur, Lime Juice, and Agave Nectar served on the rocks with a Tajín Chile-Lime Powder Rim – $10.75
This is your classic margarita from your neighborhood spot. However, the one thing that makes it fun is that Tajín rim. It gives it that Walt Disney World spin on that classic ‘rita. Enjoy!
*NEW* Smokey Margarita: Mezcal Ilegal, Pineapple-Ginger Juice, Agave Nectar, 100% Agave Tequila and Ancho Reyes Liqueur served On the rocks with a spicy Salt Rim – $11.25
Woah! They warned us, but this is definitely a strong smokey flavor in this beverage. Although there is a very strong smoke flavor from both the mezcal and rim, we found this to be the most unique margarita at this stop.
