REVIEW: Seasonal Pumpkin Spice Mickey Beignet Sundae is Everything But Basic at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter

Pumpkin, spice, and everything nice, that’s what fall Beignet Sundaes are made of. It’s that time of year again. When pumpkin spice fills the air, you know it’s officially Halloween here at Walt Disney World. Our first spooky snack of the season is the Pumpkin Spice Beignet Sundae! What a way to start, right?

We decided to stop by Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory at Port Orleans French Quarter for one of our favorite seasonal snacks. Everyone loves a good Mickey-shaped beignet, but when they’re put in a sundae, things get a lot more interesting. Now, make those beignets pumpkin spice-flavored, and we’re all about it.

If you don’t have room for an entire sundae, the pumpkin spice beignets can be purchased in orders of 3 or 6. But the sundae is the only way we want it today.

Three Mickey Pumpkin spice beignets are topped by powdered sugar, hand-scooped vanilla ice cream, cranberry compote, whipped cream, and Fall sprinkles.

The smell of pumpkin spice was strong at first, but the taste was very light. We noticed there was cinnamon sprinkled on the beignets, which helped give it some extra flavor.

The cranberry compote was the most most interesting part of the sundae, though. What we expected to be a strange taste was surprisingly good. The sweetness of the cranberry helped offset the ice cream and beignets. We might not have known it was cranberry without reading the sign, either. If you have a thing about textures, be warned there are chunky bits of cranberry pieces in the compote. It can take you by surprise as first. The vanilla bean ice cream was rich and went along perfectly with the cranberry flavor.

This pumpkin spice beignet sundae could be shared, but we wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t. The sundae with 3 beignets is $6.79, which is a good price for such a unique treat. Are you excited for pumpkin spice beignets?

  1. Ugh! Already with the pumpkin spice? Hope they still have the one with the chicory sauce. My husband has been wanting that one for years!
