Annual Passholder Simba Magnet Now Available By Mail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Between the grand opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the start of the 2019 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, and the arrival of Extra, Extra Magic Hours at various parks, August 29th was a big day for many park fans, but there was a small subset of people who were there for mainly one and one thing only: the coveted Simba Annual Passholder magnet.

Normally these go quickly, with guests forming long lines to obtain their magnets, but given the recent development of Hurricane Dorian, many had to cancel their plans to make it out to the parks in an effort to stay safe or secure their homes. The magnets have since seemingly “sold out”, but Discovery Trading Co. is offering guests an alternate way to obtain their Passholder magnets.

If you head on over to Discovery Trading Co., there are now Cast Members on stand-by with iPads to scan guests’ MagicBands and send each Passholder a magnet via mail. They ask to confirm your address to make sure it matches up with the one on your My Disney Experience profile, and then you’re all set to receive your magnet magic mail within a few weeks.

Do note that this offer is only valid until they actually run out of magnets again, but if you’re in the park, don’t lose hope on possibly securing a magnet. Cast Members Animal Kingdom have stated that they’ll continue offering mailed magnets through tomorrow, if not longer if the program gets extended. This is still not the best solution for those who aren’t able to make it down to the parks at all, but it’s a great option for those who postponed and will be making it in to the parks in the next few days.

Big thanks to Erin of @disneyrebelprincess on Instagram for the tip!

  1. The title of your article is just plain MEAN. My heart stopped when I saw that I could get a magnet. My trip is postponed and I live in Texas.

    • I concur. I had to cancel my 9/3 – 9/10 trip because of the storm. Won’t be back until October at this point.

  2. Had hoped this meant we could get our sim a magnets after all. Hubby is on call thanks to Dorian and we had to cancel our trip.

  3. We were there this morning for the magnets. We were told they were gone. We asked if anything was being done to replace the magnet. Rudely told “limited supply, they’re gone”. Unbelievable.

  4. We were at the park yesterday and they were out of magnets and they were not offering to mail magnets. It is my understanding after contacting customer service they will not be getting any more.

  5. I’m not sure who got this info. Because it’s seemingly false. We stopped by the Trading Post today, Labor Day. There were no magnets at all. The cast members didn’t give us a mailing option. I even asked if there were any other options or would they get more, she said no.

  6. We went yesterday morning on our way out of town and they said they were sold out and never mentioned this option. My husband is so bummed we missed out!! We went into animal kingdom on Sunday morning but decided to get the magnet on our way out of the park at 11 and the line was at least 45 minutes long so we thought we could come back again…

  7. So can I ask – why doesn’t Disney just give a magnet to all annual pass holders? It’s not like they can’t figure out how many they would need? If I’m paying this much to have a pass, I would think the least they could do is give me a little magnet. Also, we won’t be able to go until the end of October, so I’m sure there won’t be any “official” pass holder swag.

  8. I showed up Sunday, Sept. 1st, days before Hurricane Dorian even arrived – and was told the magnets were all gone. That’s just ridiculous because Disney advertised the magnets would be available “Aug 29-Sept 5th … available while supplies last”. So Disney, they were gone by the 4th day?!? I encourage everyone to email “GuestServices@disneyworld.com” and tell them to order adequate inventory next time.

  9. Total garbage! I was down there last week….went to Epcot to get the Minnie, told the wife “Let’s go to Animal Kingdom to get our Simba.” and the cast member said they were out of stock of the Simba. So we didn’t even bother going to AK. Now, all I had to do was go there and get put on a mailing list? Total BS Disney! Are you TRYING to drive Annual Passholders away? Universal is looking better and better after each trip to Disney.
