We like our cupcakes how we like our ears: trendy with lots of sparkle. We’ve been making our way through all the delicious aqua (and sometimes blue) offerings around the parks and resorts. When we heard Port Orleans French Quarter had whipped up a new cupcake in honor of the latest color trend to hit the parks, we just couldn’t resist.
This cupcake isn’t piled high with fondant decorations, so it may not be as visually appealing on the outside, but you know the old saying: Don’t judge a cake by its decoration. Or something about judging books by covers. Whatever. Either way, let’s dig in!
The Arendelle Aqua Sparkle Cupcake is now available from Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for $5.49. The cupcake comes wrapped in an appropriately colored aqua paper.
It’s so sparkly. The entire thing is covered in edible glitter with chocolate disc ears. White chocolate crispy pearls line the outside of the buttercream frosting. White and aqua buttercream come together to give this cupcake a very Frozen vibe.
This chocolate cupcake is topped by a pile of delicious vanilla buttercream. The taste was so fresh and light, it reminded me of my mom’s homemade buttercream. It wasn’t heavy or overly sugary and compliments the chocolate cake perfectly.
We were taken by surprise when we found the center was filled with a dollop of salted caramel chocolate mousse. This really packed a punch of rich chocolatey flavor we didn’t see coming. We’re always excited to find a cupcake filled with something besides more frosting.
This cupcake is delicious, and we would gladly return for another taste of Arendelle Aqua Sparkle. This might not be the prettiest cupcake, but the taste is delicious. Make sure you add this one to your list of must-have Arendelle Aqua snacks!
