REVIEW: Chicken & Vegetable Bun for Disney Halloween at Tokyo DisneySea’s Nautilus Galley

It’s time for Disney Halloween at Tokyo Disney Resort! And one of my favorite parts of any Tokyo Disney Resort event is the array of snacks and food items available! In this series of reviews, I’ll be detailing every single new snack and counter-service item. If any of you follow Tom Corless on Twitter, you’ll know that his favorite snack at Tokyo Disney Resort is the Gyoza Dog. Unfortunately for Tom, even as he makes his way to Tokyo, the Gyoza Dog is taking a break. Instead, Tokyo DisneySea introduced a new Chicken & Vegetable Bun introduced for Disney Halloween! So, let’s take a look at this new treat, and see if it stacks up to the beloved Gyoza Dog!

Special Chicken & Vegetable Bun – Â¥600 ($5.61)

This thing may be cute, but honestly I feel like ¥600 is stretching it for a snack, no matter how filling it is.

The wrapping is just darling, isn’t it? Be extremely careful when the Cast Member hands this to you, as it’s hot enough to have been cooked in the fires of Mt. Prometheus!

Oh my gosh, it looks like a Mickey mummy! No matter the taste, this one-hundred percent has a cuteness advantage on the Gyoza Dog! But alas, we must eat it for science. And it tastes… fine. It certainly is as advertised (with a little more chicken than vegetable), but it doesn’t beat the Gyoza Dog for me. Now don’t get me wrong, it still is a perfectly good (if slightly overpriced) snack, and it’ll fill you up fine. The chicken and vegetables inside are delicious and piping hot, although I would’ve preferred a mix of chicken bits and vegetables akin to the Chicken Teriyaki Bun rather than the pre-mixed mush. And the bun is certainly worth fawning and some cute Instagram shots. But overall, it’s hard to justify replacing a classic and beloved snack for this.

The Chicken & Vegetable Bun is available at Tokyo DisneySea’s Nautilus Galley through October 31st. Give it a try!
