REVIEW: New Haunted Mansion Tacos and Día De Los Muertos Dessert Offerings at Rancho Del Zocalo for Halloween Time 2019 at Disneyland
Rancho Del Zocalo, located at Frontierland in Disneyland, is offering four specialty items for Halloween Time now through October 31st.
Haunted Mansion 50th – The Long Forgotten Duelist Tacos – $13.49
Two Fry Bread Tacos, featuring Grilled Fajita Beef and Braised Butter Chicken served with Mexican Rice and Pickled Vegetables.
The tacos are a huge portion, which make them perfect for sharing. The chicken was cooked really well, but the beef was chewy. The sauces and toppings were good pairings that brought out the flavor of the meat, but they were a bit spicy! The fry bread on the bottom was way too hard to cut with the metal knife and fork. It made the entire process of trying to eat them a little painful and very messy.
Pan Dulce Ice Cream Sandwich – $7.99
Colorful shell-like Mexican Sweet Bread with Dulce de Leche Ice Cream, Cajeta and Churro Streusel.
The Pan Dulce was incredible. The concha bread is super soft and pairs well with the ice cream. It’s the largest dessert offered here and is plenty big enough to share with others.
Frozen Abuelita® Horchata – $5.99
Layered Frozen Mexican Hot Chocolate and Frozen Horchata topped with Spiced Whipped Cream.
The Horchata is great and has a subtle chocolate flavor in this milkshake-like dessert. The chocolate flavoring, although subtle, balances well with the spiciness. Even people who aren’t a fan of this traditional drink will like this take on it.
Orange Sugar Skull Pot de Crème – $5.99
The Pot De Creme was very straightforward, but that’s a good thing. I would definitely get it again. It tasted like chocolate pudding layered with chocolate cake. The orange sugar skull candy is the only orange part of this dessert though, but it’s still a nice touch to the chocolate dessert.
