Announced at this year’s D23 was a lot of exciting updates coming to Epcot. From more information on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to announcing a Mary Poppins-themed “Cherry Tree Lane” Neighborhood coming to the United Kingdom pavilion, we had a lot of information to process for this theme park. However, the most exciting had to be hearing that the Epcot displays from D23 were going to arrive at Epcot later this year for all guests to enjoy.
“Walt Disney Imagineering Presents The Epcot Experience” officially opened today at Epcot, allowing guests to visualize all of the exciting plans for Epcot at a new experience center in the Odyssey Events Pavilion. Inside this first-of-its-kind offering within a Disney park, guests can discover engaging and interactive exhibits that allow them to step inside the relentless innovation, energy and excitement and see some never-before-revealed details driving the future of Epcot all throughout this unprecedented period of transformation.
Let’s take a look at all this new center has to offer!
As you walk in, there’s a welcome blurb introducing guests to the concept of the experience itself, as it documents and celebrates all of the changes coming to Epcot during its transformation.
If you’re looking for the Gourmet Flavored Popcorn cart by the Imagination Pavilion, it’s no longer open. Thankfully, this location still offers all three flavors, plus some craft beers on tap.
The Epcot Experience center is comprised of a series of displays surrounding an inner room with a massive Epcot diorama, so we’ll walk through the peripheral offerings before getting to the big display.
All along the walls are these fan-favorite posters that were displayed during the D23 Expo.
There are also a number of photo ops and other displays, including a Spaceship Earth photo op, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure op, and even a Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind photo op featuring the new ride vehicles for the attraction.
Prop displays, like the Mary Poppins carpetbag and a suit from Guardians of the Galaxy, also accompany the photo ops.
However, it’s once you enter this main display room that you see where the magic happens as Spaceship Earth and the rest of this massive Epcot diorama is transformed via projection and display screens.
You can check out the full loop of the Epcot diorama display projections in the video below:
What do you think of the new Epcot Experience Center?
No rainbow tunnel?
Where is the rainbow tunnel that was discussed here in June? I didn’t see that in your photos?
Seems that it didn’t make it.
This is actually surprisingly cool! Much better than the “Blue Sky Cellar” displays we had at DCA when they were doing all of the construction in our park between 2009-12, and those were actually pretty decent too
So….no rainbow tunnel?
Where is Figment ?
All I see is a video clip of it in one of the exhibits.
