It’s the yummiest time of the year here at Walt Disney World, and the parks and resorts have begun all their holiday decorating. We’re bringing you a different kind of construction update today, and a far sweeter one at that. Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is known for its giant gingerbread house, and no Christmas would be complete without it. We stopped in today to see the very early stages of the process and thought we’d share some of these “before” type photos. Once the house is completed, we will be bringing you all the delicious details, but until then, check out how it looks before all the gingerbread is applied.
The framework looks like a giant doll house without any of the decoration.
The area of the lobby is roped off and the supplies are piled around. There are containers of gingerbread covered with cloth, but you can’t hide cookies from me. We could distinctly make out the chocolate and gingerbread shingles for the roof in one of the containers.
Smaller wooden details, such as railings and the trim of the roof, are set off to the side to be added later. A box of LED lights sits off to the side, too.
When the gingerbread house is completed, we’ll be back to try some of the goodies! We’ve already been over to the Contemporary to visit their display and sample some of their offerings and we can’t wait for these. If you want a better look at the “before” version of the display, be sure to check out our video, too.
