Ho ho ho! Merry Disney Christmas, everyone! It’s the holiday season at Tokyo Disney Resort, and that means a new slate of food to devour and review for you all! So, let’s take a closer look at the tasty treats to celebrate the season this year!
Dockside Diner is normally a purveyor of curry rice and other meaty dishes, but it seems they’re moving towards complimenting New York Deli’s sandwich business if the latest upcoming menus are any indicator. Not that I have any problem with this, because they all look like they involve roast beef. Just keep the yummy sandwiches and adorable lunch cases coming! This season, the sandwich features roast beef and shrimp, and quite a hearty helping too! And of course, there’s a special lunch case as well just for Disney Christmas 2019! How does the food taste, you ask? Well, let’s find out!
Roast Beef & Shrimp Sandwich – ¥850 ($7.83), or ¥1240 ($11.42) for the Set
Admittedly, this is a bit expensive for what you get, but the sandwich portion is quite a hearty helping, and you can only get the special lunch case if you buy the full set. Since we’re suckers here at WDWNT for the awesome lunch cases, we went a little extra and picked it up!
The wrapping is just adorable, isn’t it? I think this is the same design as last year, but I’m 100% on board! I’d love to see these designs on more merchandise. The little ornamental touches around the happy couple are so well-designed, and I think it’s an excellent representation of the season!
On to the sandwich itself: it certainly looks like the picture, complete with three pieces of shrimp on top of roast beef. One advantage Dockside Diner has over New York Deli already is that Dockside didn’t put excessive lettuce on this sandwich. I think the biggest shock here is that with roast beef and shrimp, I was expecting a hot sandwich rather than a cold cut-style dish. No such luck, it seems. But that doesn’t make it bad by any means! Just don’t be surprised when the sandwich isn’t piping hot. The sauce (which you can see partly on the shrimp) adds a nice kick without overwhelming the rest of the flavor. I couldn’t put my finger on exactly what it is, but it tasted pretty close to horseradish. Despite the sauce, neither the bread nor meats were soggy or in any way negatively affected here. But the best part is of course the roast beef, cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of flavor.
Souvenir Lunch Case – +¥1100 ($10.13)
If you’re looking for an excellent lunch case to celebrate the best Christmas show at Tokyo Disney Resort, look no further! The It’s Christmas Time!-themed lunch case is covered front and back with the Disney friends in their show costumes along with the gorgeous designs featured throughout the merchandise line.
Overall, if you can hold your nose past the price, you won’t be disappointed with this sandwich. The Roast Beef and Shrimp Sandwich is a superb choice this holiday season! If you’ve got a hankering for roast beef, drop anchor at Dockside Diner through December 25th!
