Greetings from the Magic Kingdom! In April, it was announced that the Transportation and Ticket Center would be receiving an overhaul. The majority of work is for a new pick-up/drop-off area for the parking tram and new expanded security screening areas. In the past few days, work has progressed quickly at one of the new security screening areas. So, let’s take a look!
Expanding out from the structure, fresh concrete has been poured and more light posts have been added.
Work continues on the top facade that encircles the security structure.
The biggest addition to the security screening area is the signs above each security lane. The signs are the first element of the new security screening area that match the existing theme of the TTC. The text of the signs is interchangeable, allowing lane uses to be switched depending on demand.
Crew members worked away to roll out material on the rooftop.
The new signs are visible to guests on the ground level, as well.
As we reported in our last update, tables and light fixtures have been installed. Today, we noticed the fans were hung.
With all these additions to this particular new security screening area, we wonder if the other new expanded security area that opened in November was done so temporarily to accommodate the holiday crowds. It lacks the themed signs and the permanent tables this security structure has. We’ll see what happens.
We hope these new additional security screening areas will expedite guests’ travel time from the Transportation and Ticket Center to the Magic Kingdom.

Bummer… There goes my hopes of them updating the bizarre color palette they have the existing signs at the TTC!
