Greetings from Tomorrowland! While at the Magic Kingdom today, we decided to see what’s happening at the TRON Lightcycle Run construction site. This is by far the most exciting project underway at the Magic Kingdom, and it will transformm Tomorrowland as we know it. There’s been a few changes since the last time we were here, so let’s take a look!
A section of the outdoor track has been covered in plastic to keep it pristine while work goes on around it. Long sections of tubing lay near the track. We’re curious to see where these will be added on the coaster.
Around the base of the coaster’s launch, more concrete has been poured. It now runs the entire length of the launch and surrounds the concrete posts.
Retaining walls are a major addition to the site. One retaining wall runs along the side of the launch, on the outside of rebar and concrete support posts.
Another retaining wall has been erected further away from the track. It’s partially completed. A temporary walkway with railings has been installed amid all of the excavation for the crew members’ use.
In the past few weeks, this entire area (which has been under massive excavation) has been leveled. With this area smoothed out, we think we’ll start seeing more work on the attraction’s massive canopy as pictured in the concept art.
TRON Lightcycle Run is scheduled to open in 2021, just in time for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary. We can’t wait until this coaster is complete! Are you excited for TRON? Let us know in the comments.
I’m so excited for Tron: Lightcycle run at the Magic Kingdom. I love Tron!
