Back in September, a permit was filed with Orange County that indicated Disney had plans to install a variable message sign at the Magic Kingdom Toll Plaza. Signs like this are used to aid drivers when driving on portions of road that have constantly changing road patterns.

As of this morning, we saw the new digital message sign installed in front of the Toll Plaza, as well as some work being completed on it to get it ready for use soon.

These signs can aid guests in anything from which road to take to get to their destination, current prices at the ticket booths, or during peak and holiday times, when the park has hit capacity.

As we made our way into the Magic Kingdom today, we could see crew working on the sign. The sign is a bit closer to the toll booths so that as guests arrive, they can see any updates before they meet a Cast Member to gain entry.

Although the truck has blocked some of our view of this new sign from on the ground, it’s good to see that there is a team working on it to get it ready for use as soon as possible.

The sign features a bright blue border around the screen with a yellow base, and green and yellow support beams. This color scheme looks like most of the pricing signs that guests encounter as they enter theme parks, but also ties in with the colors on the Magic Kingdom sign behind this.

From our highway in the sky, the monorail, we were able to see the sign without any workers obscuring the view. This sign is pretty large and we’re sure the text on it will be easy to read for guests even a bit further back in line as they make their approach to the Magic Kingdom Toll Plaza.

As you can see with the pricing sign on the right hand side of the road, the new digital message sign mirrors that style.
