Construction is continuing on the much-anticipated bridge and pathway from the Magic Kingdom to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Today, we noticed work is beginning at the Grand Floridian that we assume will be the terminus of the pathway. Let’s take a look!

Walls are now up by the Northern part of the resort, near the convention center, the marina, and close-ish to the main lobby.

Workers were still working on putting up the temporary construction fence as we sped past on the monorail.

You can see no work has been done on the area yet, but it is marked with flags for construction, so we’d expect work to be starting soon. This, of course, is where we expect the path from the Magic Kingdom to terminate at the resort for easy access to the main lobby and the rest of the hotel.

Here’s a map for the location of the construction walls, with the yellow circle indicating the current work zone.

Plenty of trucks and workers were present for work on the swing bridge (closer to Magic Kingdom) which was recently in the closed position for the first time.

The wood frame for gradient work on the land to be level with the bridge is very much taking shape now.

People were also visible working on the far side of the canal where the swing bridge will connect.

The land is very torn up here, so it will be some time before we see a paved pathway here.

These metal frames keep vehicles too tall from hitting the monorail beams.

The terminus of the old pathway is just waiting for people to walk on it again. Hopefully, these light poles will remain as they look really nice on the path.

  1. Have they started a bridge at the top end of the GF? Just north of where that circle is? They’ll need to cross that sliver of water as well to connect the path. My guess is, this wont be ready for months if that hasn’t been started.
