Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue at EPCOT To Be Hosted by Sam Eagle of The Muppets

Last June, it was announced that Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue would be replacing Liberty Inn at The American Adventure in EPCOT. While the name certainly sounded… stately, we didn’t expect it to come with a hidden character twist. So far, we’ve seen concept art and even menu releases for the new barbecue spot. Construction, while somewhat behind (it was slated to open December 2019, according to the latest park map) seems to be progressing rapidly. In the past months, we’ve also seen the loss of “The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History” over in the Magic Kingdom, but it seems not all is lost for the beloved Muppet characters.

According to a recent press release, the new fast-casual restaurant opening this winter will serve classic American backyard barbecue and home-style craft brews. The restaurant takes its name from Sam Eagle; the beloved Muppet will host a centennial cook-off – a salute to all cook-offs… but mostly barbecue. This sudden inclusion of IP to the new restaurant has not been mentioned in any previous press releases regarding the restaurant, so we’re intrigued, to say the least.

The cheeky description gives us some hope for the establishment, but if the concept art is any indication, the theming or character touches will likely be very light or in the form of hidden easter eggs.

  1. That just destroys the courtyard. I don’t think Sam the Eagle would be happy knowing that his restaurant sponsorship is going to ruin the beautiful courtyard in front the American Pavilion.

  2. This sounds really cool. I’m sure there’s no way Tom can be negative about this.
