REVIEW: Delicious New Special Desserts and Cute Souvenir Diningware for Pixar Playtime 2020 at Tokyo DisneySea

Friends forever, glad we’re all here together! That’s right, it’s Pixar Playtime one last time at Tokyo DisneySea! And that means not just special food, but food themed to beloved Pixar franchises! We love our special desserts in souvenir serveware here at Tokyo Disney Resort. Whatever event suits your fancy, there’s a plate and mug for you to take home in commemoration. So let’s take a gander at the special two desserts featuring beloved Pixar pals for Pixar Playtime 2020! Before we go further, we should note these were provided to us by Tokyo Disney Resort for review purposes. Alright, on with the show!

Obviously the best feature of this dessert, besides the awesome mug design, is the Little Green Men mochi topping the whipped cream. These are the famous snacks at Tokyo DisneySea, and I’m so glad to see them included in a souvenir dessert. In every special dessert, these are the custard flavor variety. There’s only two layers here: orange and white chocolate. Unfortunately, neither really pronounce themselves very well. This one leans more on the subtle end of Tokyo Disney Resort’s sweet flavor spectrum. You may catch hints of citrus and chocolate, but you’ll be saying the mochi was your favorite part for sure. However, the ceramic mug is worth the cost if you ask me.

Blueberry Cheesecake with Souvenir Plate – Â¥800

This, on the other hand,  is by far one of the best souvenir desserts I’ve had at TDR. The blueberry flavor is right in that sweet spot between super sweet and subtle, tasting rather like most blueberry things should. The little puffs on top are lightly sugared but otherwise flavorless. It’s extremely rich and thick, like you’d want cheesecake to be. Despite how close to full I was, I just adored this so much. There’s always room for dessert if you’re dedicated, after all! I will say, I’m disappointed the plate is plastic rather than the normal ceramic. It feels cheaper than normal, but at least the dessert is good! That seems to be the way this time –  a good dessert with an iffy plate, or an iffy dessert with a great cup.

Both of these desserts are available at select counter-service restaurants across Tokyo DisneySea through March 19th or while supplies last! Here’s hoping you can visit the Pixar Playtime pals and get these desserts before then!
