Earlier this morning, we got a first look at the new entrance archway and Sam Eagle sign that were installed at the all-new Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue quick-service restaurant in The American Adventure at EPCOT. Now that the sun’s come up (somewhat), we’ve decided to take a closer look at the impressive detailing of this new themed structure.
The archway welcomes guests as they enter from World Showcase, framing the entrance stairs and meat smoker in the distance.
Unlike the sign at the doorway, this one is packed with details and weathering to give it an older, more in-theme look.
There’s a raised border along the entirety of the sign, plus an extra carved ribbon with the words Regal Eagle. In the middle is the grandiose Sam Eagle himself, carved as a gilded, patriotic crest.
In each foot, he holds barbecue spatulas, a symbol of a longstanding tradition of patriotic cook-offs. In the middle, a shield much like the American flag.
Each side of the archway is outfitted with these themed lanterns. While their warm glow and flicker may be reminiscent of real candles or oil lamps, they’re actually LED bulbs!
Here’s a look at the backside of the sign. With the facade for Regal Eagle Smokehouse now fully completed, you could say The American Adventure is looking more regal than ever.
