The Mickey Shorts Theater, which will house the upcoming original Mickey Mouse short, “Vacation Fun,” is quickly approaching its March 4th opening. The theater now has all of its signage in place and most of the work that is happening now is cosmetic.
It’s hard to miss this very famous color scheme as bright red, yellow and black line the newly redesigned theater’s facade to match that of the big man himself, Mickey Mouse.
Lets take a look at what we noticed walking through Hollywood Studios today:
As you can see, the Mickey Shorts Theater signage is in place with the classic lettering for the theater itself as well as the more themed main attraction sign. The red accents on the almost “Steamboat Willie” gray make the theater pop against the backdrop of the Florida sun.
This morning, construction workers were still present painting the existing white guardrails, converting them white to yellow to go better with the Mickey Mouse theme.
On the finished areas, it’s easy to see how much of an improvement cosmetically this is to what was there before. We will receive both the opening of Mickey Shorts Theater as well as the opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway on March 4th. This will be the first dedicated attraction to feature Mickey Mouse in Disney Parks history.
We were able to see a great contrast from white to yellow here, as we sat and watched the work for a few minutes. It was evident how efficiently this resurfacing work was taking place.
The overall smoothing of the paint and removal of rough edges and imperfections was being done by a hand sander. The painting was taking place on the right side of the building, moving away from the entrance of the building itself.
Following this progress closely over the last few weeks, it’s pretty apparent that the work here is pretty much wrapped up. Full steam ahead to the March 4th grand opening date!
