With Cinderella Castle getting a permanently pink and gold-hued makeover this summer, work is already quietly underway at the Magic Kingdom, as the first steps are being taken to drain the moat for potential work.
Closely surrounding the castle, you’ll see these barriers up along many of the moat’s various waterways. The last time we saw these barriers go up was for draining related to the walkway expansion alongside Sleepy Hollow and Fantasyland.
These barriers will eventually help keep water out as parts of the moat are drained ahead of scaffolding, painting, and more work in the area.
Here, we have the barrier closest to the castle, but there are more alongside waterways near Adventureland and Liberty Square.
Work is expected to ramp up in the next few weeks, and will continue through the summer season, before the newly redone Cinderella Castle is revealed. For a look at the new concept art and castle makeover details, check out the announcement post here.
Hey Jess, thanks for the info. Do you have any idea when the work will be finished?
Thanks!

I can’t imagine the pink & gold castle would be worse than the birthday cake castle, aka the pepto bismol castle!
