On our way to the opening of the new Regal Eagle Smokehouse this morning, we stopped to take a look at some of the progress going on with the overhaul of the former MouseGear location

The MouseGear renovation is part of Project Gamma and the overall EPCOT overhaul. We saw one of the last dominoes to fall in this refurbishment this week with the closing of Pin Central and the removal of the iconic fiber optic pathway. This morning, we saw that MouseGear is a shell––no pun intended––of its former self.

The space is closed entirely now and guests are directed to other area attractions.

We immediately noticed that you could see almost entirely through the recently-gutted building.

Window removal has already taken place, exposing only vertical supports and a barren space.

The popular EPCOT merchandise hub is devoid of anything but some support walls.

Here’s a view of the gutted store from the Monorail:

The newly redesigned MouseGear is set to open sometime late this year. With so much work going on at EPCOT, it seems like there are changes every day you visit the park. Another great reason to stay up to date with all of WDWNT’s updates!

  1. This was where we spent most of our souvenir money on our trips. I guess we will be saving a bit until later this year.
