“It’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow,” and Tomorrowland is on its was back to the ’60s! Progress will go on in your life, and mine, and Tomorrowland is no different. Sometimes though, progress is going backwards, not forwards! We are following closely the continued transition from ’90s “New Tomorrowland” to a more classic Tomorrowland. This has been an effort by Disney in hopes to combat the age-old challenge in Tomorrowland of every “tomorrow” makes “today” outdated.

We see today that the scrims are still present as they were last week, in front of the old Stitch’s Great Escape attraction (which, by the way, is still not officially closed?) The process of removing and repainting the vertical supports on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover appears to be going rather speedily.

Present are two of the vertical supports that appear in the middle of the restoration process that will soon be painted and revealed:

You can see in the distance the completed white paint job of the telescoping base pillars. We can see as well, the pillar in the foreground that is still left to be completed.

Your quiet and carefree highway in the sky looks refreshed.

We can see here, from left to right, the transition from completed to still being finished. This is a great look at the developing process.

Another great transitional picture showing the infancy stages of these two pillars going through a complete rework as we showcased a couple weeks ago.

We can see a closer look at some of the disrepair that some of these vertical supports were in. They look like they were in need of a necessary restoration back to their former glory.

What do you think about the new/old reimagining of Tomorrowland? Do you prefer the steampunk style of the late ’80s early ’90s? Or are you happy to see the return of the classic style? I can say I am ecstatic to see Tomorrowland going to more of the classic style.

  1. Loving the return to the original mid century modern looks they have been doing to Tomorrowland in WDW and Disneyland!
