REVIEW: Peppers Cali-ente Marketplace Brings The Heat at the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival

Returning for another year at the 2020 Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival is Peppers Cali-ente. You may remember this marketplace from last year for bringing the hottest dish of the festival last year, the Ghost Pepper Mac & Cheese. While that item isn’t returning this year, Peppers Cali-ente is debuting a brand new menu, so let’s see if they bring the heat like they did last year.

*NEW* Creamy Poblano Pepper Pasta (Vegetarian) – $7.75

This rotini pasta is covered with a roasted poblano sauce, with a roasted red pepper drizzle and crumbled cheese.

This dish is a great vegetarian option for anyone who likes a little spice. The pasta was well-cooked and had a heavy oil base. The roasted poblano sauce definitely had a kick to it, but tasted great. The roasted red pepper drizzle is what gave the dish most of its spice, which we didn’t mind too much, as it had a nice chili flavor. The cheese was a great topping and blended well with the other flavors.

*NEW* Grilled Shrimp Tacos on Jicama Tortillas (Gluten-Friendly) – $8.00

These tacos had an extremely fresh taste. The shrimp was marinated well and had a little bit of spice to them, but not too much.

The jicama tortillas were almost tasteless, but held everything together well. A plate of tacos come with two tortillas piled high. The slaw that accompanies the shrimp is delicious, and adds some brightness to the dish. We found these to be a great gluten-free option, and the portion size was large for a theme park food festival.

*NEW* Cantarito-style Paloma (Alcoholic) – $13.00

This drink was sweet, spicy, and very fruity. It’s light and refreshing compared to other beverages available at the festival, but people may not like how spicy it is. This is one of the less syrupy options at the festival.

*NEW* Annabella, Chardonnay Special Selection, Napa Valley – $18.00

Running from February 28th to April 21st, the Disney California Adventure Food & Wine Festival will be open, leaving you plenty of time to get out here and try some of these delicious marketplaces.
