With the grand opening of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway next week on March 4, we’re eager to walk inside the Chinese Theatre once again and see Mickey, Minnie, and the gang take off on their zany adventures aboard the Runnamuck Railway, where “mouse rules apply.”

With Cast Previews underway, new sneak peeks from inside the attraction are beginning to surface, and now we have a first look at the Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, thanks to our friends at MouseSteps.

In the queue, we see the newly-restored interior of the Chinese Theatre, now lined with Mickey Mouse shorts posters. You’ll see posters from such popular shorts as “Potatoland”, “Wonders of the Deep”, and “Perfect Picnic”, which follows the story of the attraction.

Upon boarding, the train cars hold two rows of 3-4 passengers each aboard the Runnamuck Railroad. Throughout the landscapes seen on the background here, you see moving characters and cars, enhancing the “2 and 12 D” effect.

Here’s a look at Conductor Goofy, as well as Mickey and Minnie:

You’ll notice that as the train progresses, while there are train tracks visible on the bottom, the surface is smooth due to the lack of any ride tracks.

  1. I’m a little underwhelmed right now, but hopefully, it shapes up to be better when we see more/the rest of it. I think it’s just the faces (projection and odd shaping from the angle) on the animatronics and obvious screen for Goofy… Anyway, I’m looking forward to riding it in a few months :)

  2. What happened to the video screen inside the locomotive? It looks terrible cut off like it is. A bigger screen or a smaller opening would have remedied this. Goofy’s hat is cut off.
