As you walk into the Magic Kingdom today, your views (and photos) of Cinderella Castle may be slightly marred by the sight of numerous high-reaches sprawled across its facade, as painting for the castle’s grand makeover has officially begun.
Here’s the sight as you walk up on Main Street. Work will be ongoing throughout the day, with performances of Mickey’s Royal Friendship Faire reduced to only afternoon showings so as to not interrupt the daily progress.
Workers are applying the first layers of paint on the castle facade. We assume the first layers will be mainly primer or test patches.
In the weeks leading up to today, the castle’s moat was fully drained to allow for the high reaches to enter the space.
These blue turrets are set to be painted a darker shade of royal blue.
Here we see the first layers of rose gold paint going on.
Work on the castle’s expansive makeover is set to be finished by the end of summer. Are you looking forward to seeing the final finished product?
cool! first Hong Kong Disneyland started its magical castle transformation, later, Disneyland park repaired and repainted its castle, then Tokyo disneyland began to repaint its castle, and now Magic Kingdom began to repaint its castle! :D
They light gray color scheme that’s been there for decades was designed to make the castle appear far away, which would increase the fairy tale feeling. I’m afraid this new color scheme will make the landmark gem look like a brothel.
Thata a big stretch.
A super stretch.
That explains why all the parking lots on OBT are painted rose gold
Have you noticed what time they lower the cranes and quit fir the day. We are taking our niece on her first Disney trip with us in May and we wanted to get castle pics with everyone preferably without cranes in the picture
Look at it as an opportunity to improve your Photoshop skills! Straight things like cranes and guide wires are fairly easy to mask,
Love it!
