UPDATE: Walt Disney World Cast Members Instructed to Follow New Stay-At-Home Mandate Issued For Orange County

Disney has sent an internal email instructing its Florida-based Cast Members at Walt Disney World to follow the stay-at-home mandate that was recently issued earlier today for Orange County. While part of Walt Disney World technically is located within Osceola County, it seems it is following the regulations issued by surrounding counties out of an abundance of caution for their Cast Members and guests.

Mayor Jerry Demings announced earlier today that a stay-at-home mandate for all of Orange County would go into effect starting Thursday, March 26 at 11:00 PM, for the duration of two weeks.

Disney has yet to make any official press announcements at this point, but the two-week period would put the closure past the originally-stated April 1 reopening date for Walt Disney World Resort. Expected reopening at this point would be April 9 at the earliest.

We’ll continue to update this post as further information arises. Keep reading WDWNT for continuing coverage of this ongoing story.

  1. Congratulations you fools that believe this is necessary. Welcome to fascism. This is disgraceful.

    • Facism? What?! What?! Do you even understand what you’re writing? Do you even know what facism is? How does facism even play a part in any of this? Clearly, you don’t understand what you’re writing. Clearly, you don’t understand that we’re facing one of the largest pandemics in recent history

    • No action = more cases and more deaths = overwhelmed medical systems = even more fatalities. Is that what you want? Do you want this to just keep spreading? Again, I’m confused on why you think this is fascism. Maybe you should do some in depth research on what fascism actually is.

    • And maybe doing some research on virology/epidemiology would help you to better understand why the medical and science community states that these measures are necessary.

  2. I hate all the uncertainty! We are supposed to get there on May 2 and leave on the 9. I was so excited to grab great fast passes for my family and did not see all of this coming at that time. I understand the safety issues (I am an insurance adjuster and have to meet with people several times a week. I now wear a mask when I go into their houses.) This was to be our niece’s first Disney trip and she has been looking forward to it for a year and now it might have to be pushed back further. It is the nature of things right now, but it doesn’t make it any less disappointing or frustrating. Sorry, just needed to vent.

    • Do you CM read off the same flash card or something? I called right before they announced their first closure and the CM laughed and swore up and down that WDW would never close and that the news wasn’t true.. guess what? 20 minutes later WDW announces they shut down until March 31st.. So I’m pretty sure seeing how the virus is killing people and they just ordered all residents on shut down that WDW will not reopen during that time would be extremely irresponsible of them risking everyone’s life! Of course they’re going to shut down! This is common sense! Why do you CM keeps lying and acting like it’s not going to happen?

  3. Even Disney cannot perform a miracle.
If everyone stopped complaining and stayed inside….except for essential workers or a trip to the grocery store or a little fresh air in your own neighborhood. Perhaps this can end sooner! This way WE CAN ALL GET BACK TO NORMAL! Its not just happening to you or your families!

  4. i am planning to go on april 26-may 2. now we might not be able to go :( i understand all the safety issues, but i’ve been looking forward to it since last year and i haven’t gone in three years. i know all the safety concerns and and stuff, just needed to vent.
