Robert Rodriguez and Peyton Reed Revealed as Directors for Episodes of “The Mandalorian” Season 2

The official release date for the next chapter of “The Mandalorian” may still be months away in October, but news from across the galaxy is offering us increasingly more insights into the show’s production. This week, two directors were revealed to have worked on the highly-anticipated second season, which will premiere on Disney+ this October.

In a heartwarming tweet this May 4th, fimmaker Robert Rodriguez (“Sin City”) announced that he was ‘humbled’ to be directing ‘the biggest star in the universe’. Rodriguez also shared a photo of himself posing with the infamous “The Child” (or Baby Yoda, as adoring fans will call him.)

Peyton Reed, known for directing “Ant-Man” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, also revealed his involvement in “The Mandalorian” this week. Sharing a powerful photo of a Mandalorian helmet atop his director’s chair, Reed captioned the tweet only with the hashtag “MayThe4thBeWithYou”.

It is still to be revealed how many episodes will have been directed by Rodriguez and Reed, or whether they will be returning for Season 3, which is already in pre-production. In fact, very little has been revealed about the secretive second season, although we were excited to hear reports that Rosario Dawson has been cast as Ahsoka Tano last month. Nevertheless, in the meantime, fans can check out the new documentary series “Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian”, which premiered this week on Disney+, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the series’ creation.
