Disney has released the following statement regarding the cancellation announcement, which also includes Disney H2O Glow Nights for the remainder of the year at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon:

While assessing another fall special event, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, we determined that many of its hallmarks – stage shows, parades and fireworks – are unable to take place in this new, unprecedented environment. With that in mind, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.  Additionally, Disney H2O Glow Nights, the nighttime special ticket event at Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, will not take place for the remainder of 2020. Guests who have already bought tickets to these events will be assisted with refunds over the coming weeks.

Event dates for this year’s MNSSHP were:

  • August: 13, 18, 21, 25, 28
  • September: 1, 4, 7, 11, 13, 15, 18, 20, 22, 25, 27, 29
  • October: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 12, 13, 15, 16, 18, 20, 22, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31
  • November: 1

As a reminder, shows and parades will also be temporarily suspended upon the reopening.

  1. Disney is not, I repeat NOT, giving fair value for their resorts Customers in the circumstance of the quick-service dining plans. First, they had to move us to a different hotel which took away our discount offer and ADDED almost $300 to our total bill (the trade-off being we get the quick-service meal plan) Then they cancel the quick-service meal plan and only offer to take off 35% of just the hotel prices’ original amount – which is no where near half of what we would we now have to pay for meals since they’re taking away the quick-service dining plan. And, since the quick-service dining plan also goes through the EXACT same procedure as using magic bands to charge the meals to our rooms, there is absolutely NO DIFFERENCE in how we charge for meals, although they claimed they canceled the quick Service because of the Coronavirus. Contacted Disney several times and they Dave a blanket, ambiguous response & just blamed the federal government for the change… but while they’re offering a 35% discount we will end up only getting back roughly 15% of what we paid, and now will probably have to pay an additional thousand or more to cover our meals. And now theyve cancelled this! Universal is SO AHEAD of Disney on this pandemic is not even CLOSE!

  2. Shoot. If only I’d waited two days I wouldn’t have had to go through the special dispensation from Walt’s ghost. I’m joking, of course, it wasn’t that bad, but I was surprised they didn’t cancel this event when they canceled the fireworks and parades. It just seemed like the logical thing to do. (Of course the logical thing to do is not the profitable thing to do and, as much as I love Disney, they are still a corporation with their eye on the bottom line).
