Development Officially Delayed on Universal’s Epic Universe at Universal Orlando Resort

It’s going to take longer to enter the Epic Universe.

During parent company Comcast’s quarterly earnings report, it was officially confirmed that work on Universal Orlando Resort’s future Universal’s Epic Universe theme park has been delayed until “the future becomes more certain.” The park had previously been announced to open in 2023, but that may now shift back.

The report revealed that Universal Parks & Resorts suffered a 94% loss of revenue during the second fiscal quarter. It’s the first report to take full account of the worldwide park and resort closures due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in July, Orange County approved a $5 million credit to the resort to offset the costs of removing an old pipeline that runs through the construction site, roughly covering 40% of the relocation costs.
