Live-Action “Mulan” Release Date Postponed Indefinitely Amid COVID-19 Concerns

Following AMC’s decision to postpone their reopening from July to August, Disney has now postponed the release of Mulan indefinitely, according to Variety.

A Disney spokesperson told Variety the following:

Over the last few months, it’s become clear that nothing can be set in stone when it comes to how we release films during this global health crisis, and today that means pausing our release plans for ‘Mulan’ as we assess how we can most effectively bring this film to audiences around the world.

COVID-19 numbers have been spiking in many cities and states in America. Mulan and other blockbusters also rely on the China market for profit, but Chinese movie theaters remain closed as well as those in the United States and Europe.

Mulan was originally scheduled for release on March 27. Disney then delayed it to July 24 and then August 21. Disney did not announce a new release date this time around. It would have been the first big summer blockbuster this year.

  1. This may mean in the future Mulan might be officially announced outright cancelled, I’m fine with that

  2. With parks doing so badly, Why not release Mulan exclusively on Disney+, so that this way it will gain Subscribers. We all know that only DIsney+ has been the most profitable stream of the walt disney company during this pandemic. Parks, Movies & merch Licensing have all taken a hit.
