PHOTOS: EPCOT Aerial Construction Update (Entrance Fountain, Innoventions, MouseGear)

Since the closure of Walt Disney World in March, the future of Future World in EPCOT was put on hold, along with other construction work throughout Walt Disney World property. Now it appears EPCOT’s Future World construction is moving forward.

Construction presses on for what will become World Celebration in EPCOT. World Celebration will be one of four “neighborhoods” once work on the fully reimagined EPCOT finishes.

Here we have an aerial view of the entrance to EPCOT. This was once the site of the Leave a Legacy monoliths that were removed to make way for more green spaces last August.

When comparing aerial photos taken in March, we can see more orange barriers have been added along the leveled perimeter of the one-time Innoventions West building. If you look closely, you can see a staircase going down to the basement of the former building. This sits near what once was the entrance of the Club Cool building.

Sitting along the outside of the old MouseGear, is a rather large pile of bright orange construction barriers. A large portion of the ground between Innoventions West and East remains only dirt.

EPCOT reopens to Guests with valid tickets and Park Pass reservations on July 15th, so we’re interested to see how this area develops between now and then.

Do you think A Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will boost attendance or do you think the amount of ongoing construction will cause Guests to use their limited number of park reservations for the other three Walt Disney World theme parks? Let us know in the comment section below!
