Disney Vacation Club Reportedly Raising Direct Purchase Point Minimum for Membership Extras

Disney Vacation Club members may soon have to purchase more points to access the full slate of benefits.

According to DVCNews.com, Disney is reportedly raising the number of direct purchase points needed for Membership Extras to 125 points, an increase from the current 100 points, possibly within the next few weeks. Points must be directly purchased from Disney to be eligible, and do not include resale points. Membership Extras include discounts on Annual Passes, dining and merchandise, as well as the Moonlight Magic after-hours events and access to a member-exclusive lounge at the Imagination! Pavilion in EPCOT.

The direct purchase point minimum was first instituted for perks back in April 2016, though there was no stated amount at the time; only that some points had to be directly bought from Disney. That was raised to 75 points in February 2018, and again to 100 points last September. These new policies have been imposed onto new members; pre-existing owners have had their status grandfathered as each new minimum was instituted.
