PHOTOS: Disneyland and California Adventure Add Plexiglass Shields to All Theme Park Turnstiles in Preparation for Reopening

While Disneyland Resort has no reopening date, both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park have recently installed plexiglass safety shields at all entry turnstiles. In addition to the fresh plexiglass, window display coverings have been removed at the front of Los Feliz Five & Dime on Buena Vista Street.

While some plexiglass had been installed previously on the gates of Disney California Adventure, every turnstile now has received a wrap-around protective shield. This will help add additional protection for both Cast Members and guests in a space that doesn’t allow for much social distancing.

The recent activity comes as Disney awaits the Governor’s approval to reopen. The continuing work to prepare the parks might lead one to believe that we are getting close to that approval. Government officials also recently monitored operations at Downtown Disney and were said to have been pleased with what they saw.

Although Buena Vista Street has been very quiet nowadays, we noticed Los Feliz Five & Dime’s front window displays have been uncovered to reveal the same 2020 merchandise display from March. Previously, the windows had been completely hidden.

Across the Esplanade, Disneyland also received the new protective plexiglass turnstile and gate shields.

With more park safety preparations being installed, and Downtown Disney operations continuing to run smoothly, we can hope to hear news on the reopening of Disneyland Resort soon.
