Central Park Crêpes, appropriately located near the entrance of Central Park at Universal Studios Florida, has finally opened and is serving up a wide selection of sweet and savory crêpes! We’re here to taste this new on-the-go meal option at Universal Orlando Resort, and can’t wait to dig in. How about we try… the whole menu?
The Central Park Crepes cart design follows Art Noueau beautiful styling, with posters mimicking the 19th-century style of Alphonse Mucha. There’s an ordering window on one end, with a pick-up window on the side, and two Freestyle Coke machines on the other end. The kiosk will be open until 3:00 PM today, and starting tomorrow, hours will be 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM daily.
The menu features six different crepes: three savory and three sweet varieties, plus Freestyle Soda options.
After ordering, your crepes are made to order right in front of you, with batter expertly laid out on a hot plate and then each crepe filled to the brim with toppings.
Portion-wise, these are all fairly hefty, heavy cones of goodness, so if you’re tempted to get multiple, just keep that in mind… these are essentially meals wrapped up in fresh crepes.
Seating is available at the nearby Cafe La Bamba, but do keep in mind that it does fill up fairly quickly.
Savory Crepes
Overall, the crepes themselves are actually incredible. They’re light and warm, but with a slight toothsome chewiness, for a really great consistency and taste. These just melt in your mouth.
Chicken & Goat Cheese – $7.99
Filled with Grilled Chicken, mushrooms, pesto, arugula, and goat cheese
And now, on to the first crepe tasting!
There’s large chunks of chicken and lots of arugula visible at first glance, but once you dig in, you’ll find mushrooms and plentiful amounts of goat cheese.
There’s also pesto, which gives it an extra pop of flavor. The warm goat cheese is perfect with the crepe, and the mushrooms are delicious.
Smoked Brisket – $7.99
Filled with smoked Brisket, pepper jack cheese, coleslaw, and Golden BBQ Ranch
Brisket is good, but we thought the Chicken & Goat Cheese was better.
The brisket is thinly sliced. It’s flavorful, but there’s just not enough sauce here to coat the entirety of the crepe.
The main flavors here are the brisket and coleslaw with a bit of the cheese, but it really needs more BBQ ranch sauce… we got a few bites of it at first, but afterwards, the flavor mostly vanished.
Vegetarian – $7.99
Filled with Vegan Mozzarella, Gardein Sausage, Vegan pesto, diced tomatoes, Balsamic glaze
This vegan option is delicious, and surprisingly the most flavorful out of the three.
The balsamic glaze and pesto pack tons of flavor with each bite, and personally we found the vegan cheese and Gardein sausage crumbles to be excellent.
Even if you don’t follow a vegan or vegetarian diet, we highly recommend this crepe. And if you do eat vegan, we love that there’s a delicious new plant-based option to snack on.
Sweet Crepes
Lemon Blueberry – $6.99
Filled with lemon mascarpone, fresh blueberries, lemon curd, whipped cream, lemon pound cake and powdered sugar
Lemon blueberry was very tart and sweet—if you like lemon pie, this is for you.
The crepe is packed with lemon filling, dotted with plump blueberries throughout.
The sweet cream cuts the tart lemon flavor, making it more balanced, but this is great for any fan of citrus desserts.
Strawberry Hazelnut – $6.99
Filled with Nutella Mascarpone, Nutella, Strawberries, powdered sugar
A classic combination, the Strawberry and Nutella was amazing.
The chocolate hazelnut taste mixed with the creamy filling made this an instant favorite.
The thin-sliced strawberries give it an added sweet taste, but this is a Nutella-lovers dream!
Cookies & Cream $6.99
Filled with Oreos, Oreo mascarpone, whipped cream, chocolate ganache and powdered sugar
The Cookies and Cream was another great choice for chocolate lovers, but the Nutella still won us over as the top choice.
There’s Oreo pieces mixed in with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. While it’s not the most sophisticated of flavor profiles, it’s bound to be popular with kids.
So, there you have it! Every crepe at the NEW Central Park Crepes. Will you be heading over to Universal Studios Florida to try out some crepes at the new kiosk? Let us know in the comments!
The vegan and Nutella ones look super yummy! Now I’m hungry.
I’m trying to find out if the plant based option has eggs in the crepe. No one seems to know the answer.
Asked Universal guest services to get the answer. And, yes, the crepe for the plant based option is vegan. It’s a different mix that excludes eggs and butter. It also has a dedicated crepe maker to avoid cross contamination.
