VIDEO: “it’s a small world” at the Magic Kingdom Currently Open With No Music

Love it or hate it, we all know the words to “it’s a small world” and find ourselves singing along while riding the attraction. Except for today, where it seems guests at the Magic Kingdom are experiencing “it’s a small world” without any music at all.

Thanks to Twitter user @bethawho, she caught a video while riding the attraction this morning where all of the music had been turned off, leaving only the sounds of the water effects as the soundtrack to the ride.

Since the Magic Kingdom reopened to the public after a long closure due to COVID-19, the park has been plagued with maintenance issues. Guests have had to evacuate Splash Mountain due to the ride vehicle sinking, and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress has experienced its own audio issues.

Do note that the ride was functioning as usual later in the day, and this was a rare instance of no music at the classic attraction.

  1. That is hilarious! I actually know people who have insisted It’s a Small World would be better without the song. I’m sure they’re incorrect but it would be interesting to see a POV video for comparison.

  2. This is super common. Most ride audio is on a loop and the rides run so often that a mistake by the computer is statistically impossible to avoid. Idk why y’all act like Disney is perfect. It happens at Little Mermaid all the time. Under the Sea cuts out sometimes. Just let it run and it’ll figure itself out in a few minutes

  3. I don’t mean to imply I prefer it without music because I love it’s a small world but it seems super relaxing with just all the ambient ride noise. Kids must be bored to tears though.

  4. FFS even the park itself is resisting being open. Animatronics breaking down. Rides malfunctioning and breaking down.
Ever think perhaps Walt Disney himself is trying to tell us something?
