Director James Cameron Announces “Avatar 2” Filming Has Wrapped

Avatar creator and director James Cameron recently announced that principal photography for Avatar 2 has ended. Cameron broke the news to actor and activist Arnold Schwarzenegger during an interview for the 2020 Austrian World Summit. Cameron and Schwarzenegger have collaborated on The Terminator series and True Lies.

Based on images shared by Cameron, it appears that some of Avatar 2 will take place in Pandora’s waters.

With Disney’s purchase of 20th Century Studios, the Avatar series is now a Disney franchise. Cameron plans to create multiple Avatar sequels. The Avatar 2 release date has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It should arrive in theaters in December 2022, a year later than originally announced.

Cameron also told Schwarzenegger that Avatar 3 principal photography is 95% complete.
