Massive Server Outage Leads to Temporary Shutdown of shopDisney, Plus Mobile Ordering and Gift Card Payments at Walt Disney World

Fix-It Felix is here with another outage affecting numerous components of the Disney Parks experience, from shopDisney for those looking to shop at home, to Mobile Ordering in the parks as well as Disney Gift Card payments.

Since earlier this morning, the shopDisney website has been down, citing that “improvements” are being made to the site. However, the outage has affected today’s exclusive releases, including the next Minnie ear headband set in the Disney Parks Designer Collection.

The site remains down as of time of publishing, with no communications from shopDisney on social media channels to inform guests of the outage.

Over at the parks, Mobile Ordering is also down on the My Disney Experience app.

Quick service locations like Sunshine Seasons at EPCOT are now handing out paper menus and taking orders in-person for lunch and dinner service, until the outage is fixed. Previously discouraged due to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, guests are now allowed to line up for the registers and order their meals there.

Also affecting guests property-wide currently is the inability to process Disney Gift Cards at all points of sale. Guests with Disney Gift Cards will be asked to provide an alternate method of payment.

Do note that these issues are likely due to an internal server outage, and are temporary. We’ll keep you updated once all of these services return to normal online and across Walt Disney World.

  1. This outage is really hurting. I’m sitting in Epcot with the gift card (for contactless payment) I loaded for Food and Wine and can’t get anything. They just say use a credit card without thinking that when you load a card for specific usage you really don’t want to pay again. Who wants 30 purchases on their credit card.

  2. We were in the big, fat middle of this. Wasted 20 priceless morning minutes at the Caribbean Beach food court trying to execute a mobile order before the staff caught on and directed customers to a manned cash register. We didn’t make rope drop at the Magic Kingdom as a result.

But Splash Mountain wasn’t operational when we got there anyway…
