We’ve been following the construction progress of the walkway connecting Disney’s Grand Floridian & Spa with the Magic Kingdom for some time now. As we followed the walkway this time, we noticed very few signs of construction in the area. In fact, the construction we noticed wasn’t even the walkway itself. With much excitement, we bring you a step by step journey along the new walkway.

Walkway – Disney’s Grand Floridian & Spa End

Starting at Disney’s Grand Floridian, you can that the walkway is ready for pedestrians ready to walk or job to the Magic Kingdom for a day of wonder and enjoyment in the park. The walkway leading towards the swing-arm bridge doesn’t show any signs of construction. Also, the grass and landscaping appears to be trimmed and maintained well.

Walkway – The Swing-Arm Bridge

Though the swing-arm bridge connecting Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa isn’t currently in operation, it appears ready for use. The swing-arm bridge allows for water traffic passageway through the area whenever needed.

The large walkway to the left swings towards the other side, giving pedestrians access to the Magic Kingdom side. The area here has bee well-maintained by landscapers and all the signage and safety rails have been installed.

Walkway – Construction

As we travel along the walkway from Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, we notice a little construction. This appears to be an access road along with some construction equipment. Nevertheless, the path beyond this scene appears to be finished, as you can clearly see the finished concrete, path lamps, and installed shrubbery.

Walkway – Ramps

After passing the construction zone, we noticed the introduction of a temporary ramp. this ramp sits atop the grounds to allow pedestrians to avoid mud and water, as is often present in Central Florida. Beyond the temporary structure, you can see that the walkway has been completed.

Walkway – Magic Kingdom End

The ramp diverts pedestrians from the future entrance/exit to and from the Magic Kingdom. Instead, pedestrians will approach these temperature checkpoints, which are located just off of the monorail station. The future entrance/exit will be located by the arrival area near the docks.

The arrival of a temperature checkpoints leads us to believe that the walkway may be operational when Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa reopens on September 21. Though this hasn’t been confirmed, we hope the first arrivals at the resort can take advantage of a leisurely walk, or even a jog, to the Magic Kingdom. If not, the walkway will certainly open soon afterwards.
