Work has begun on the refurbishment Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which will not fully reopen until next summer. While there’s a year to go in the project, some areas are already beginning to close.
Construction materials and equipment are staged along parts of the parking lot.
The main entrance to The Great Ceremonial House is now closed. We got a look at what the future entrance will look like last week.
Guests can instead enter through the side entrance.
Construction signs feature Maui wearing a construction hat.
The check-in area remains open for now, but it will soon close and temporarily move to Pago Pago.
One elevator is blocked off on multiple floors.
Back outside, workers are placing concrete barriers around the walkway from the parking lot.
At Pago Pago, two tables with Plexiglass barriers have been set up.
