We stopped by Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa to try some new Halloween treats at The Artist’s Palette.
Pumpkin Spiced Whoopie Pie – $4.99
This chocolate whoopie pie is filled with pumpkin-spiced marshmallow and garnished with a spider web chocolate piece.
This was a good chocolate whoopie pie, but it wasn’t quite the right texture. It was too dry and crumbly for a traditional whoopie pie.
It was still tasty and the right flavor profile.
The marshmallow filling had a strong, pumpkin pie spice flavor.
It had a good marshmallow texture. It was light and airy, but heavy on the flavoring.
This is an unusual way to make a whoopie pie, which usually just has a soft icing filling or the top is covered in icing. For us, the texture difference of a firm marshmallow was difficult to get through.
While heavily flavored on its own, the pumpkin spice marshmallow balanced wonderfully with the chocolate pie and the icing. If you can get past the texture, this is a good dessert.
The pumpkin spiced whoopie pie is exclusively available at The Artist’s Palette.
Caramel Cauldron Cupcake – $5.99
This cupcake is filled with chocolate and topped with salted caramel buttercream. The sauce is garnished with chocolate flames and a witch’s broom.
The cupcake had a good chocolate base. It was a basic cupcake, but it was moist and fresh.
The icing was good, fresh chocolate buttercream. It was well-mixed and of good quality. It had stronger hints of hot chocolate than, say, chocolate pudding.
The chocolate decorations were fun visual additions. The chocolate was good quality.
The icing filling had a delicious caramel flavor and was very creamy.
Overall, this was a good cupcake, but we would have preferred more filling and caramel sauce. We did like that there wasn’t an overabundance of frosting, but we felt there needed to be more sauce and filling to balance the amount of cake. It was still very tasty with a cute presentation, though.
This caramel cauldron cupcake is available at The Artist’s Palette at Saratoga Springs as well as Good’s Food To Go and Conch Flats General Store at Disney’s Old Key West Resort.
The monster cookie bag is also available at The Artist’s Palette, Good’s Food To Go, and Conch Flats General Store. The bag is full of sweet and salty chocolate chip, pretzel, candy-filled cookie bites, and would be perfect for kids.
