Unionized Walt Disney World Cast Members to Receive Pay Raise While Some Remain Furloughed

According to the Orlando Hotel and Restaurant Workers Movement Facebook page, some Walt Disney World Cast Members will be receiving a pay raise next month.

Disney will implement the pay raise on October 4. Food & Beverage Cast Members will receive a $1 raise from $13 to $14 an hour. Housekeeping Cast Members will go from $15 to $16 an hour. Any worker who earns above the minimum pay will get a raise of 75 cents. This pay raise was already a work in progress in the contracts before the closure of the theme parks due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This news comes just after thousands of Cast Members learned of furlough extensions possibly through November. Cast Members were recently lining up in the early morning for a food bank organized by Unite Here 737. Most Walt Disney World entertainment is remaining closed indefinitely and several attractions, restaurants, and hotels have no confirmed reopening date.
